This photo
shows in some detail polyp extension that was
stimulated by addition of coral calcium into the
water column. If you want to raise a sarmentosa
you need to have a metal halide light source. Begin away from
the light until it's acclimated and then move it to
where they can gather the most light available.
Feed anytime during the day. Once they're
accustomed to your tank, they can be introduced
to frozen foods such as chopped blood worms,
artemia or squid. Steady and regular feeding of
zooplankton will maintain great polyp health
which, of course, will be a major benefit the
coral. Supplement with strontium, calcium and
magnesium.
Can be aggressive towards their neighbors, so
give them sufficient room. If properly cared for
the arms increase in number and will extend
toward the light
