Plerogyra
"bubble" corals are a fascinating addition to
your tank. The ease of maintenance, ease of
positioning and the rapid growth. They feed
easily on microalgae, rotifers, zooplankton and
any of the other small livestock in the water
column. Watch them swell during feeding and the
long tentacles search for corals to attack.
Placing bubble corals too close to the flow
source can injure their bodies. Keep them in the
middle of the tank if you have a high energy
light source like metal halide.
Feed anytime during the day. Once they're
accustomed to your tank, they can be introduced
to frozen foods such as chopped blood worms,
artemia or squid. Consider feeding them directly
with a turkey baster directly into the bubble
areas. Be very careful when moving to prevent
tearing the bubbles. This can lead to the
animal's death.
Can be VERY aggressive towards sensitive
neighbors, so consider that in your placement.
