Since Abalones are grazers they need to be in an established tank with enough room to maneuver and access to plenty of their natural foods. They are like many snails that will eat the detritus from the substrate and help keep the tank clean, but algae are their primary
diet. They move around at night and will not tolerate high levels or spikes in nitrates or ammonia.
