Special Requirements and Information:
Porites
monticulosa is the coral that everyone
recognizes from the many undersea videos that
are on TV and are a major component of corals
reefs around the Pacific Rim. The polyps are
very small and scattered along the face of the
coral plate. Keep them away from the substrate
to prevent the polyps from clogging.
They feed at night and are filter feeders. Make
sure that you use phytoplankton on a regular
basis. If you have a high end protein skimmer,
you may have difficulties with this coral. Make
sure that your tank has other corals and
scavengers that will eat the excess food.
